Cluster formation in populations of coupled chaotic neurons

چکیده
We investigate cluster formation in populations of coupled chaotic model neurons under homogeneous global coupling, and distance-dependent coupling, where the coupling weights between neurons depend on their relative distance. Three types of clusters emerge for global coupling: synchronized cluster, two state cluster and antiphase cluster. In addition to these, we find a novel three state cluster for distance-dependent coupling, where the population splits into two synchronized groups and one incoherent group. Lastly, we study a system with random inhomogeneous coupling strengths, in order to discern if the special pattern found in distance-dependent coupling arises from the underlying lattice structure or from the inhomogeneity in coupling.

Adaptive Fractional-order Control for Synchronization of Two Coupled Neurons in the External Electrical Stimulation
This paper addresses synchronizing two coupled chaotic FitzHugh–Nagumo (FHN) neurons with weakly gap junction under external electrical stimulation (EES). To transmit information among coupled neurons, by generalization of the integer-order FHN equations of the coupled system into the fractional-order in frequency domain using Crone approach, the behavior of each coupled neuron relies on its pa...
متن کاملPopulations of coupled electrochemical oscillators.
Experiments were carried out on arrays of chaotic electrochemical oscillators to which global coupling, periodic forcing, and feedback were applied. The global coupling converts a very weakly coupled set of chaotic oscillators to a synchronized state with sufficiently large values of coupling strength; at intermediate values both intermittent and stable chaotic cluster states occur. Cluster for...
متن کاملCooperative behavior of a chain of synaptically coupled chaotic neurons
A coupled linear chain of Hindmarsh-Rose model neurons with reciprocal inhibition between neighboring neurons exhibited synchronous oscillations in which neighboring neurons burst out-of-phase and next nearest neighbor neurons burst in-phase. The bifurcations observed inside this "out-of-phase" regime were qualitatively the same for all chains with an even number of neurons and were similar to ...
متن کاملData Clustring Using A New CGA(Chaotic-Generic Algorithm) Approach
Clustering is the process of dividing a set of input data into a number of subgroups. The members of each subgroup are similar to each other but different from members of other subgroups. The genetic algorithm has enjoyed many applications in clustering data. One of these applications is the clustering of images. The problem with the earlier methods used in clustering images was in selecting in...
